Batam Trip 2 (One Day Free & Easy)

Having been to Batam on a guided tour on the previous trip, this time I'd prefer to travel on our own. We booked our ferry tickets through Groupon at S$38 (UP: S$48), collected the tickets from the agent and made reservation with WaveMaster.

The ferry departs from Harbourfront Centre and will arrive at Batam Centre.

Upon reaching Batam Centre, we went to the taxi counter located just outside the terminal. We took the taxi and wanted to go to Nagoya Mall for massage and A&W (S$10 for one trip) but were persuaded by the driver to book him for the whole day at S$50. And since there were 3 of us and would be less hassle if we were to book him for the day, we agreed.

The driver introduced us to Indo Thai massage which is just opposite Nagoya Mall. Neither the staff are pushy nor there're additional charges to the packages. The prices for the massage packages were quite reasonable so we took up the 90 minutes body massage. They provide Hot Stone Massage, IndoThai Mixed Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, Aromatic Body Scrub and Foot Reflexology.

We all had our individual lockers for our belongings.

We then proceeded to the massage area which I personally felt uncomfortable as it's a common area which I'd think it is a bit inconvenient for ladies to walk to and fro the bathroom. Perhaps, I will take up the spa packages at Spa Secrets that is just next door on my next trip. Do remember about tipping the masseuse after that.

 After the massage, we went to Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall where we did some shopping and had A&W.

It had been a long time since I ate this.

Subsequently, we went to Batam Layer Cakes to purchase Kueh Lapis.

The layer cakes come in a variety of choices - Original, Cinnamon, Cheese, Prune, Pandan and a few others. Prices range from S$25 to S$29 or Rupiah 200,000 and above.

The driver wanted us to dine at the Golden Prawns which is nearby but due to time constraint, we decided to proceed to Mega Mall which is just opposite the Batam Centre terminal.

Coincidentally, Mega Mall happened to have an event on that day.

And lucky of me to be able to purchase nice batik home.

We then had our dinner (Ayam Penyet) at the Batam Centre terminal.

And drinks to go along - Ice Lemon Tea and Avocado!
