Wat Pho (Bangkok)

Wat Pho, also known as Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Bangkok, Thailand. Its official name is Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn.

Dress appropriately to visit the temple.
No shorts or skirts above the knees, no tank tops or sleeveless top that reveals bare shoulders.
Entrance is located along Thai Wang Alley. Admission ticket at 200 baht.
Remove shoes and put them into plastic bag before entering the hall of Phra Buddha Saiyas.
The Reclining Buddha is measured at 46 meters in length and 15 meters in height.
The soles of the Buddha's feet consist of 108 auspicious symbols. Some symbolizes fortune and prosperity such as lotus, water jar, a pair of fish, gems and etc.
Donate 20 baht for one bowl of coins and drop the coins into 108 bronze bowls placed along the side of the hall.
Dropping coins into the bowls is believed to bring good luck.
Besides Phra Buddha Saiyas, you can also visit Phra Ubosot, Phra Buddha Lokanat, Phra Buddha Palilai and Phra Buddha Maravichai (image of Buddha attaining enlightenment under Bodhi tree) within Wat Pho.
Last but not least, you can book the Thai traditional massage service provided by the school located in Wat Pho.

Open daily from 8.30am to 6pm

Wat Pho is accessible by bus, tuk-tuk, taxi and ferry. Tha Tian Pier is the nearest boat pier to Wat Pho and from this pier, you can take the ferry to Wat Arun.
