Where to go in Malacca 马六甲?

Malacca city, together with GeorgeTown of Penang, is listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as the World Heritage Site.
Transport to Malacca
From Singapore, one could travel to Malacca by
  • Coach - Purchase tickets from travel agencies (Konsortium, Grassland, etc) at People's Park Centre or Golden Mile Complex (Coach will usually stop at major hotels such as Holiday Inn, Mahkota Hotel, Hotel Equatorial, etc)
  • Car - Prepare "Touch & Go" card for toll payments, the trip will take about 4 hours of driving.
  • Private Van - Suitable for family trip, the van could take up to 10 persons and will stop at your choice of accommodation in Malacca.
During one of my trips to Malacca, we booked the private van. The driver came to pick us up and we reached our accommodation safely. Moreover, the driver is friendly and gave us some suggestions for dining. If you are planning for a short trip to Malacca with your family members (max of 10 persons), you could book the private van with Mike.

To book the private van, call +60127383617 and look for Mike
Remember to quote "NoobGuidance" to get a *preferential rate (Only for a limited period) from Singapore to Malacca!
Accommodation in Malacca
There are quite a number of hotels in Malacca such as Holiday Inn, Mahkota Hotel, Hatten Hotel, etc. Hatten Hotel seems convenient as it is located near the shopping malls and would be an ideal accommodation if you are going for shopping.

However, if you are going to shop at Jonker Street, have your meal at Restoran Nancy's Kitchen or visit the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum, I'd recommend the boutique hotels around Jonker Street. It will save you some time walking to Jonker Street or getting some gifts at San Shu Gong at the very last minute.

Read my posts on the accommodation review.
