Cheng Hoon Teng Temple 青云亭 (Malacca)

Cheng Hoon Teng Temple is the oldest temple in Malaysia which was founded in 1645 by Chinese Kapitan Tay Kie Ki. During those times, "Kapitans" were appointed chiefs or headmen of various ethnic communities. And in its early years, the temple served the Chinese community's religious needs and functioned as the official administrative centre and a court of justice for the Kapitans.

For more information about the temple, visit AmazingMelaka.com
On 28 September 1949, the Parliament passed the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple Incorporation Ordinance. Subsequently, a Board of Trustees was formed to look after the temple.

The temple is located near Jonker Street, along Jalan Tukang Emas.
From Holiday Inn Melaka, it takes about 15 minutes' walk.
Around the area, there are also a few other temples.
As Cheng Hoon Teng Temple is the oldest temple in Malaysia and was awarded a UNESCO award for its outstanding architectural restoration, we decided to make a trip to the temple to offer our prayers.
We arrived around noon time and it was scorching hot.
The temple was also slightly crowded with worshippers.

Tsukada Nojo Bijin Nabe 塚田農場美人鍋

My first attempt to try the Bijin Nabe at Plaza Singapura failed when we arrived at 5.30pm, only 30 minutes after they have opened at 5pm. The restaurant was fully occupied and the waiting list was long which we were told that we might get the seats at around 8.30pm or 9.30pm.

So why is there such a long queue? It's because of the soup stock known as "Golden Jidori Soup". According to Tsukada Nojo, they stew the chicken bones for over 8 hours so that their golden broth is natural and rich in collagen.
The following ingredients are included for 2 persons. S$25 per person.
This is the popular soup stock - Golden Jidori Soup.
The staff will serve the chicken meat when the soup is ready
We chose the Thin Egg noodle which I'd suggest not to leave in the soup for too long as it'll become soggy
We also ordered the Nikumaki Onigiri which were very filling due to the rice balls.
I think one is enough for one person. They all taste almost the same.
If it's not enough, could order more by topping up
Other dishes - Chicken Nanban, Steamed Meatball Dumplings, Fried Chicken Wing, etc

They provided us with seaweed to mix with the soup
And a small dessert

Nando's (Buona Vista)

According to the Nando's Story, the discovery of Peri-Peri was due to a young boy who had gone exploring and returned late that night with the African Bird's Eye Chilli. The African people named it "Pili-Pili" but the boy couldn't pronounce it and thus introduced the chillies as Peri-Peri.

And "Nando's" came from an authentic Portuguese flame-grilled chicken restaurant called "Chickenland" which was bought by two great friends, Robert and Fernando and they changed the name to Nando's.
